Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualification: Passed 12th standard or equivalent from a recognized board  .

Age Limit:

Grade C: 18–30 years

Grade D: 18–27 years

Age relaxations are applicable in line with government norms for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-servicemen  .

Shorthand Speed:

Grade C: 100 words per minute (wpm)

Grade D: 80 wpm  

Application Process:

2. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already done  .

3. Fill out the Stenographer 2025 application form with all correct details.

Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern:

The recruitment follows two stages:

Computer-Based Test (CBT)

200 multiple-choice questions, total 200 marks

Sections:

General Intelligence & Reasoning – 50 Qs / 50 marks

English Language & Comprehension – 100 Qs / 100 marks

Duration: 2 hours

Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong response  

Skill Test in Shorthand (qualifying only)

Grade D:

10-minute dictation @ 80 wpm

Transcription: 50 minutes (English), 65 minutes (Hindi)  

Grade C:

10-minute dictation @ 100 wpm

Transcription: 40 minutes (English), 55 minutes (Hindi)  

Only those who clear CBT are eligible for the skill test  .

Syllabus Breakdown:

General Intelligence & Reasoning

Includes puzzles, logical reasoning, coding-decoding, analogies, data interpretation.

General Awareness

Focus areas are Indian history, geography, polity, science and technology, economics, and current affairs.

English Language & Comprehension

Covers grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, one-word substitutions, idioms, antonyms/synonyms, and sentence correction  .

Salary & Job Benefits:

Grade C: Pay Level 6 (₹ 35,400–₹ 1,12,400)

Grade D: Pay Level 4 (₹ 25,500–₹ 81,100)
